  • logistical INFORMATION

    FLIGHTS and transport

    Flights will need to be arranged by each attendee in accordance with their own institution. Flight costs will need to be paid by each node. Please contact your node leader or administrator to confirm the best way to book your flights.

    Transport from the airport to Novotel on arrival should be sorted by attendees. Buses will be available on Friday 25 Nov to depart from ANU and other social activities sites to the airport at 4 pm.​

    meals

    Breakfast is included in the room rate and morning tea, lunch, & afternoon tea will be provided throughout the day at  the conference venue.  

    Partners and family

    Our retreats are intended to be family-friendly, and children and partners are welcome.  Childcare can be arranged. Please indicate in your registration if you require childcare and we will liaise directly with you regarding options available. 

    Should OzGrav members bring partners and/or children, OzGrav HQ will cover the accommodation costs, meals, and childcare for children. Any additional costs incurred for a partner to join meals, dinners, social activities etc will be charged back to the individual.

    pARKING AT ANU

    Parking for visitors is available across the Acton Campus in Pay As You Go, Pay &Diplay and time-limited zones

    Pay As You Go (PAYG) parking is charges on a minute-by-minute basis with no minimum time limit. Drivers using PAYG parking must register with CellOPark beforehand. It is the driver's responsibility to ensure an active parking session commences when parking on campus - the counter will change from Start(green) to Stop(red) - and that the correct registration number of the vehicle parking on campus is set as active.

    Pay & Display parking  is charged at an hourly rate with the minimum period able to be purchased being one (1) hour and the maximum up to three (3) hours. Payment may be made using coins or EFTPOS. A ticket must be purchased and displayed on the vehicle dashboard when parking in these parking zones​​

    pARKING AT KAMBRI PRECINCT

    Parking is available in the Kambri precinct. Access to this underground car park is via Kingsley Street, off Barry Drive. The car park is managed by Care Park on behalf of ANU. For further information please visit the Kambri website.

    If unable to find visitor parking on campus, you may wish to consider parking in nearby ACT Government paid car parking or in either of the privately operated car parks at City West and 121 Marcus Clarke Street.
    Disability parking bays are available across campus for holders of Australian mobility permits.
    Parking restrictions apply 24 hours a day, 7 days a week unless stated otherwise. Permit, Pay As You Go, Pay & Display (ticket) and time-limited zones are enforced from 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, public holidays excepted.

    PARKING AT NOVOTEL CANBERRA
    Undergroundparking is available at a $32 AUD per night. The entrance to the car park is from Moore Street and is accessible by obtaining a ticket from the machine placed at the right hanf side of the entrance.  You can also see reception for validating your rickets. Please note that car parking is subject to availability. 
    OzGrav will cover for member's parkings at Novotel by direct billing.

    Alternatives to Novotel parking: In case of not finding available parking spaces at Novotel, please head to London Circuit avenue or to the Canberra Centre as suggested by the hotel.

  • Covid-19 Event Safety

    Latest update: All state and territory COVID-19 isolation mandates have ended in Australia.

    To ensure the ECR Worskhop and Annual Retreat is an enjoyable and safe event for for all attendees  we will have a COVID-19 event safety plan in place. Further details will be updated regularly on this page and in line with any ACT government rules and The Australian National University CovidSafe guidelines.

    Mask Wearing
    In line with ANU guidelines, masks are no longer required indoors except for teaching and for clinical settings. However, we encourage all members to use masks during the entirety of the event to help protect our community. Masks will be available at our registration desk.

    Testing 
    Rapid Antigen Tests will be available to attendees at our registration desk throughout the event. 
    We encourage all members to take a Rapid Test on their day of arrival to Canberra.  If you are showing any cold and flu like symptoms, please do not attend our events.

    COVID Help
    Please note: In case of being COVID positive during the event, do not hesitate to contact OzGrav staff members. They will aid in arranging emergency accommodation or travel for those emergency cases, and OzGrav will cover the full costs of any arrangement.

  • code of conduct

    We ask attendees to read and adhere to the the OzGrav Events code of conduct policy that outlines behavior that will not be tolerated. In particular:
    • Behave professionally. Harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary comments or jokes are not appropriate. Harassment includes sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, sexual attention or innuendo, deliberate intimidation, stalking, and photography or recording of an individual without consent. It also includes offensive comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race or religion.
    • All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience including people of many different backgrounds.
    • Participants asked to stop any inappropriate behaviour are expected to comply immediately. Attendees violating these rules may be asked to leave the event at the sole discretion of the organisers without a refund of any charge.
    • You are welcome to engage with this event and your colleagues through social media, provided that your communications are respectful, appropriate for a professional audience, and adhere to the Code of Conduct. If you have questions or criticisms about a colleague’s research or presentation, we strongly encourage you to communicate that directly to your colleague rather than via social media. We also encourage you to only post things on social media about other people, which you would be comfortable saying to them in person.

  • CONFERENCE DINNER

    The conference dinner will be held on Thursday  24th November at Pialligo Estate and the costs for members will be covered by OzGrav HQ. If you would like to bring a family member(s) or guest along to the conference dinner please indicate this in the registration form. Note that OzGrav HQ will cover costs for a child to attend the conference dinner, but will charge the cost for a partner or guest back to the individual. Details of how to pay for additional conference guests will be uploaded to this event page shortly. 

    We will be arranging transportation to and from the conference dinner venue departing from The Novotel Hotel.

    Alternative Accommodation

    For late registrants, accommodation bookings will now have to be done independently - OzGrav will cover a total of AUD 219 per night at an Airbnb or hotel. 
    Note that this subsidy is not available for nights of accommodation on dates outside of the Retreat.
    If you require for OzGrav to cover extra nights of accommodation because of emergencies such as travel impediments due to COVID or limited flight options,  please contact ahernandez@swin.edu.au.

    As part of the annual retreat program, we will be holding 3 Minute Lightning Talks:​

    • 3 minute lightning talks are open to our students and postdocs

    We encourage applications from any OzGrav member(s) who wish to run a 60 minute session during the retreat.
      
    These will mostly be run in parallel sessions.

    OzGrav is pleased to announce that this year we will be holding the Early Career Researcher Workshop & Annual Retreat in person at Kambri  The Australian National University (ANU), Canberra ACT.
    Registration has closed, but you may contact info @ ozgrav.org if you wish to be considered for late registration.

    Early career researcher (ECR) workshop 

    ​Date: 21 & 22 November 2022 
    Where: Kambri, Superfloor Marie Ray Building, The Australian National University 
    (some of the program can be streamed for those that  cannot attend in person) 
    The OzGrav Early Career Researcher (ECR) Workshop is open to all OzGrav students and postdoctoral researchers. It is a great opportunity to get to know your fellow OzGrav students/ECRs. The workshop will consist of interactive sessions, networking opportunities and team building  activities.  

    Annual retreat

    ​Date: 23, 24 & 25 November 2022 
    Where: Kambri, Superfloor Marie Ray Building, The Australian National University 
    (some of the program can be streamed for those that  cannot attend in person) 
    OzGrav is pleased to announce that this year we will be holding the Annual Retreat  23 - 25 November in Canberra ACT.  The retreat will include a mix of scientific talks, keynote presentations, professional development sessions, and of course, plenty of opportunities for networking and getting to know your OzGrav colleagues. The Annual Retreat  follows the Early Career Researcher workshop that is being held 21&22 November.
