ozgrav machine learning workshop

When: 7-8 March 2019
Where: Swinburne University, AMDC Building Level 8, Room 801, Hawthorn VIC 3122.
Organisers: Matthew Smith, Lachlan Campbell, Jade Powell, Wael Farah, Erin O'Grady, Yeshe Fenner
Registration: Registration has now closed

For those that cannot attend in person we have set up a zoom videocon link that you can join from  https://swinburne.zoom.us/j/551149155

Summary: Day 1 of the workshop will provide participants with a basic tutorial for performing classification tasks with a neural network. There will be some hands on examples for you to try yourself. Day 2 is for you to apply the techniques learned on the first day to some gravitational wave problems. We will provide some gravitational wave data for you to use, or you can bring your own problems to try on this day. We recommend that you work in small teams. You will need to have an account on OzStar and join project oz989.

We will provide free coffee at Haddons (if you mention OzGrav) every morning between 9.00 and 9.30. Lunch will not be provided. There are many options for lunch on Glenferrie Road.

*AMDC level 8 is a secure floor that requires swipe card access. If there is no one at the entrance to let you in please use the phone provided and call Erin on Ext 8246, Yeshe on 8302 or Lisa on 4558
