The gravitational wave field has a rich history of innovations with commercial impact and applications in industry and other sectors. OzGrav Chief Investigators already hold over 20 patents and have established 3 spin-off companies. OzGrav is committed to ensuring new technologies make it out of the lab and into the real world where they can make a lasting scientific, environmental or economic impact.
OzGrav's Research Translation program is led by Prof. Daniel Shaddock who is an OzGrav Chief Investigator at ANU and the Chair of our Research Translation Committee. He is the CEO of Liquid Instruments Pty Ltd, a spin-off company founded by Shaddock and other researchers from the gravitational wave group at the ANU to commercialise advanced instrumentation technology derived from both ground and space-based gravity detectors. OzGrav will employ a range of strategies to support industry engagement and technology transfer, including regular industry briefings, a PhD industry internship program, a progressive IP utilisation strategy, and co-location and joint appointments of industry and research staff. If you are interested in OzGrav technologies and opportunities for collaboration, please contact OzGrav Director Prof. Matthew Bailes, Research Translation leader Prof. Daniel Shaddock, or OzGrav Chief Operating Officer Dr. Yeshe Fenner. |
