Ashley Stock is a postdoctoral researcher in OzGrav working on very long baseline interferometry astrometry of compact radio sources such as pulsars, fast radio bursts, and active galactic nuclei. She is interested primarily in propagation effects – all of the beautiful, messy things between an observer and some interesting astronomical source that make observing difficult. By better understanding and characterizing sources of noise, like the Earth’s atmosphere and the interstellar medium, we can reduce that noise to enable higher precision measurements.
