I am a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland, where I primarily work on making and analysing maps of the positions and motions of millions of galaxies in our Universe. Within OzGrav, I’m interested in using these for standard siren and FRB cosmology, population inference towards understanding the progenitors/formation mechanisms of black holes and neutron stars, and for investigating the links between GWs and their host galaxies. I am chair of working groups in the DESI and 4HS galaxy surveys, and am interested in helping use these data to better our followup of GWs and their associated electromagnetic counterparts. My work relies heavily on combining observations, theory, N-body simulations and Bayesian statistics, so I work on the interface between, and borrow skills, from all of these.
