  • Swinburne University of Technology

Hendrik Combrinck is pursuing a PhD in Astrophysics at Swinburne University of Technology after completing his first class BSc Honours with at the University of the Free State in South Africa. His research centers on processing MeerKAT radio telescope data for pulsar timing and fast radio burst detection, building on expertise gained through the OzGrav Research Internship. Hendrik combines technical proficiency in programming and specialized pulsar timing software with a passion for science communication demonstrated through his work at the Naval Hill Planetarium. Having excelled academically throughout his education, Hendrik is now developing specialized skills in large-scale data processing and pulsar timing analysis—expertise valuable for South Africa’s growing radio astronomy sector. His goal remains to contribute meaningfully to research and education while leveraging international experience to advance scientific knowledge in radio astronomy, particularly with MeerKAT and the forthcoming SKA telescopes.
