OzGrav ECR School 2026

The OzGrav Early Career Researcher (ECR) School 2026 will be held in Kanazawa, Japan, bringing together OzGrav and Japanese students and researchers for several days of scientific discussion, learning, and collaboration.

The program will include lectures, presentations, and opportunities for ECRs to connect with peers across the Centre. As part of the program, participants will also visit the KAGRA Observatory.

Travel Support

  • Accommodation, main meals, conference costs, and return airfares will be covered by the Centre.
  • Each node will be responsible for booking and paying for their travellers’ flights. Once purchased, nodes can invoice Swinburne (OzGrav HQ) for reimbursement.
  • The Centre will reimburse:
    • Up to $1,200 per traveller for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Canberra departures, and;
    • Up to $1,300 per traveller for Perth and Adelaide departures.
  • Please note: For this occasion we will not be able to host partners/family members/friends external to OzGrav at the accommodation venue. Please plan accordingly if you intend to travel with someone.
  • HQ will not reimburse transit or tourist visa costs. Travellers are responsible for arranging and paying for any necessary visas or entry permits.

Registration

There will be up to 30 spots for ECRs to attend the event.

Due to the limited number of places, the registration process will follow the steps below:

  1. Call for EOI
    A call for EOIs and Abstracts will be circulated for those interested in attending the School. The submission deadline is Friday 18 April (close of business AET).
  2. EOI review
    The Organising Committee (OC) will review the submissions and select participants.
  3. Registration invitation
    A registration link will be sent to participants who have been accepted.

Please note:

  • Preference will be given to members who have not attended previous ECR Winter Schools.
  • Senior members are expected to submit an abstract if they wish to join the School.
