The Professional Development Committee (PDC) identifies and advises on career development and training opportunities to equip our members with a broad range of translatable skills. The committee is also responsible for developing and overseeing the Centre mentoring program, which all our members are encouraged to participate in. The PDC's role includes:
- Developing and assisting with the implementation of an OzGrav professional development program and plan
- Monitoring and reviewing the OzGrav professional development program and performance against KPIs, and proposing improvements and changes to the program
- Ensuring that OzGrav adopts international best practice in career development practices
- Developing and overseeing the OzGrav mentoring program
- Advising on an appropriate program of training events and workshops that the Centre should provide to members
- Advising on opportunities for OzGrav members to engage with industry
- Ensuring that OzGrav students and ECRs are appropriately engaged with the national and international gravitational wave research community
- Advising on the creation of grant programs and prize schemes targeted at OzGrav students and ECRs
- Advising on appropriate participation by OzGrav students and ECRs in committees
- Advising on opportunities to leverage or coordinate with relevant programs run by other institutions or Centres of Excellence
- Advising on funding opportunities to support or augment OzGrav’s professional development program
- Advising on succession planning
- Providing reports and recommendations to the Executive Group and Director, as appropriate
